DESCRIPTION:Join us for a relaxed tour and shared meal at Food For Lane County Youth Farm’s new location at the base of Mt. Pisgah. Walk the rows\, meet the farmers\, and see how good\, clean\, and fair food is grown with care. \n\n\n\nBring your lunch for a picnic afterwards\, if you choose to stay. We’ll eat together and celebrate the people and practices that sustain our local food system. \nAbout the Youth Farm: Teen farmers learn how to grow food here\, and the food is distributed to food assistance programs\, and is also sold at Food For Lane County’s produce stand and through their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. DESCRIPTION:Join Claudia Lucero\, founder of Portland-based Urban Cheesecraft and author of “One-Hour Cheese\,” “Cooking with Whey\,” and “Instant Pot Cheese\,” for a hands-on afternoon of cheesemaking and tasting. Claudia will lead a live demo of a classic cultured cheese using simple\, approachable techniques for home kitchens\, sharing key steps\, ingredients\, and practical tips to make small-batch cheesemaking feel doable and repeatable. \nWhile bacterial cultures are used in most cheesemaking beyond quick cheeses\, the style of cultured cheese she will cover is lightly set and made with live bacteria to create the tang and depth of flavor found in French cheeses like Fromage Blanc and Chèvre. Claudia will also share how to continue building your skills at home\, with optional resources for those who want to keep going beyond the class. Class is limited to 25 people.
